Dogs love treats and what better way to show the pets in our lives how important they are than to make their treats at home! With minimal time and low-cost ingredients, homemade treats are a fun way to give our dogs healthy, tasty snacks. Kids love making homemade dog treats, too! With adult supervision this is a fun indoor activity for a rainy or just-too-hot summer day.
Recently, the Caring Connections staff and volunteers joined the young men at Monroe-Harding in making homemade dog treats for their pet friends in conjunction with the Dog Training 101 session. The young men in the cottages took turns working hands-on with certified professional dog trainer Julie Farris, training pups in basic commands, while others concocted homemade dog treats with Crossroads Campus Executive Director Lisa Stetar and Caring Connections Program Coordinator Robin Fields. The teens donated the treats to rescued dogs via the Noah’s Ark Society.
